spring cleaning

Friday, March 09, 2007

Libby was home from school yesterday. I'm not sure how "sick" she was, maybe just in need of a "mental health day". So, we managed to clean out her closet and drawers, to make room for some spring clothes. I did not make this skirt, it was purchased, but it was her favorite all year. We originally thought of making tissue holders from the fabric, but yesterday she suggested making it into a bag. The fabric is great. I have seen it in reprodepot's collection.

We took the straps off of a old bag that literally had a hole in the bottom and was from the dollar store. They fit perfectly onto the belt loops. As soon as we were finished Libby said she wanted to use it as her knitting bag. A girl after my own heart.

Enjoy your weekend!

That is awesome! Looks like the kind of skirt my Liv would wear a lot, too. Now I'll be combing the sales racks looking for skirts to make into bags. :)

  10. I'll use the word that my 4 year old has been using lately to describe your mini skirt turned bag...ingenious! What a great idea. I'm sure your daughter will enjoy wearing it about that way as well :-)

  14. I just found you from tieonone. I can't believe you've been 'closet-blogging' for so long. I had to go back and read all your stuff. {wink!} I love the little skirt-turned-knitting-bag here. I would have liked the skirt for my three girls to wear and pass on to one another. As for those heart aprons...I need to hire you to make one...I'm thinking aqua/brown/red...or lime/cranberry/orange. SO cute! Glad I "found" you...and now have you added to my favorites. I'll be stopping in from time to time. =)

  17. O.K. so you are officially my hero.

Do you have a great sewing machine? Would love to know if you have thoughts on good machines so that someday I can totally rip off all your great ideas. I have an ancient Singer and it is woefully inadequate or I lack the knowledge to figure it out.

Oh how cute and . . so resourceful! I agree, the fabric was too nice to get rid of. Now you have me going through my own closet wondering what types of inventive things I can do with my cast-offs.
