red

My favorite new fingerless mitt pattern, Evangeline.
I have seen these around, but was really drawn to them when Tiennie showed them in a whole array of beautiful colors.
I thought it only appropriate to make them in red for my friend Michelle, who celebrates her birthday on Valentines Day.  The pattern has two lengths.  Wrist or Elbow.  This pair is a little in between with five repeats of the pattern before the thumb.  A total of six repeats.
And a Valentine gift for my mother.  I made hers a little shorter.  She thought they would be nice to wear inside the house for those cooler days in Florida.  Three repeats before the thumb for a total of four repeats.
I used Cascade 22o Superwash, on size 7 dpn's.
Happy Valentines Day!

both super cute! I love longer mitts, but for Florida, I can see the shorter ones being useful! Did you get all 4 mitts out of one skein?

Lovely mitts! I'm so impressed you had it together to finish these for VDay. I might think ON VDAY, "Say, those would be a nice valentine's knit..." but then, you know, tomorrow's the 15th. :-)

I love the color of your mitts, and how you wrapped them with pretty ribbon. I've had to jump on the band wagon, and I knit my first 'Evangaline' last night ;-) Hope to do the second one today, then I think it's about time I blogged again. I post more often on my 'daily blog', but I haven't knit much this week due to painting in the game room, so haven't had much to write about re: yarn and such!
Have a lovely weekend. Did you make cookies this week?

The colour is wonderful! The mittens look fabulous.

I like the gloves and the card you made to go with it.

MadMad said...

OK. I know you think I spend my days just walking around copying you, making your same sweaters, eating your same cookies, and making your same fingerless mitts, and well... it's true.

But darnit, mine are brown. And I kept 'em.

Those are just perfect! I could use a pair when I am in the store since it is an old building, and drafty, my wrists and hands always get cold! I am going to have to check out the pattern, could be the cure for my knitting hiatus!

TJ said...

I love those! It's a little advanced for me yet as I'm still sticking to the safe stuff (scarves and blankets - pretty well anything that's square!)

I'll definitley have to learn to make these though if I want to keep my hands warm in my office this winter!

The evangeline mitts look so squishy and gorgeous. Your mum is lucky to have her own pair too, and I love the color.
