lounging

This is one of those projects that is so darn easy with such pleasing results.  Even if you are a new sewer, you can make these.  The directions are super easy and super detailed.  The biggest problem I had with these is showing them to you.  Because really, am I putting my photo on the internet in my jammies?  No, I'm not sleeping in these.  No way.  Ahem.
Lounge Pants from Amy Butler's In Stitches book. I used a thrifted sheet out of my sheet stash. (Idea prompted by Soulemama)  I think I paid $2.00 for it.  I am so tempted to use every sheet I have to make more.  Although, I will restrain from doing that, I will make more.  A few more.
I omitted the trim from the bottom, because, well I just didn't feel like doing it. This pair is a little long.  Just a tad.  However, with the fit and the comfort level, these have fast become my favorite lounge pant.
Enjoy your weekend.

Looovvvve that In Stitches book. I got a glimpse a few weeks ago.
Great loungers! It's almost like you are wearing your bed. No wonder they are so comfy!!! I am in the market for new loungers.

I saw a pair of these on Soulmama's blog a while back which prompted me to add Amy's book to my wish list. Yours look super comfortable. Now, if I could only get comfortable using a sewing machine. I have a stack of vintage sheets just waiting around for something.

What an awesome way to use those sheets that don't fit on my bed anymore! Perfect - love yours!

Seriously? I thought those were pictures of Libby when I first saw them! So, you made them from a sheet? You are amazing! Too cute.

When you mentioned trim, I had flashbacks to last week's Project Runway when Chris used human hair as trim. But I digress...

Those are SOOO cute. Makes me wish I could do more with my sewing machine than put the needle thru my fingernail every time. I am a disaster!

My girls like their jammies long. Then they can tuck their toes in to keep them warm.

Oh what a great idea to use sheets for your pants. They look so comfortable. I do have a sewing machine but I'm not a very good seamstress! I would like to try these one day though, I could make a matching pair for my daughter:-)

Those pants look so great... and look at you putting your collection to use!

Those are way cozy looking! I like to thrift for flat sheets too -- I use them for backings for blankets...then I find cheapo old/ugly blankets for the inside so I don't have to mess about quilting them down. :)

What adorable little pants! I had to look twice, I just thrifted a pair of curtains that look just like your pants. Now I'm inspired to make a set of my own loungy pants! =)

Oh Leslie, these are so great! I have had my eye on that pattern from InStitches but didn't want to make them while I was pregnant--you may have inspired my next project!

Hope you are well.

Gorgeous! I have that In Stitches book too. I'll definitely be making these pants soon...especially since I could go to the thrift store to get some cheap sheets to make them. What an awesome idea! I remember someone else doing this and had totally forgotten about this cheap way to get fabric. I'm so glad you mentioned it!

I have a sheet downstairs that I think I have to make into a pair of these pants, though I don't think they'll look quite as cute on me! Adorable.

It is things like this that make me really really want to learn to sew. I have two broken sewing machines in my closet right now because every time I try to learn I break them. No one can figure out what I am doing wrong...maybe I need to actually take a class. I am inspired now to actually go out and find one! You are so talented!

And now I have yet another reason to go thrifting this weekend...

They are fabulous, I have had the fabric sitting ready for over four months but still haven't made mine, I am green with envy over yours, love the colour.

Very cool idea to use sheets. Why can't we buy fabric at that price?

Steph said...

Hello! These are great! I found you from Philigry and am enjoying your blog!

letter9 said...

I actually love that they're a bit long. I wonder if they could be adapted into yoga pants... Hmm... As they are now they'd be pretty loose and not great but maybe with a few alterations.

I love the fabric, too. Just right for early March -- clearing away the dark of February with something cheery.

OK. Hello. Now I know why I never gave those orange paisley sheets away when the no longer fit our new mattress. Hello lounge pants. Thank you!
