Seventy thousand, five hundred and thirty two. I have been wanting to count the stitches in a completed sweater ever since
Tiennie did
it. And decided, with charts and rows, this was the sweater to count. Seventy thousand, five hundred and thirty two stitches. That is a lot of stitches, and a lot of "throwing". (I knit using the
English method.) Amazing to think my hand brought yarn around the needle seventy thousand, five hundred and thirty two times. I think we should all give our hands a massage. Or at least a kiss.
Ruby is finished. Blocking as we speak. Photos soon.

And I wonder why my wrists ache sometimes - Sheesh.
That's an impressive number for sure. So what you knittin next ;)
Yeah!!! Will wait patiently for the photoshoot.
Beautiful, even before the blocked and preened photo shoot. You're right about being kind to your hands. That really is a lot of work for a single garment, but don't you feel good about it?
wow and oy.
I have thought about tracking the number of hours that it takes to make a quilt, but with the amount of interruptions that I get with my 3 little ones, it would be nearly impossible.
That's a lotta stitches! Did you count cable crossings too? I've been counting stitches in a blanket that I'm knitting for Jeff. Å queen size blanket on size 5 needles. I announce after each color block how many more expressions of love I just knit for him. We're at over 200,000 right now.
Why am I humming that tune from Rent? Wow, that's a lot of knitting. It looks beautiful. I can't wait for the big unveiling!
Oh man! Can't wait to see Ruby in all her glory!
(wonder how many stitches we'll throw in a lifetime!?)
LOL! You're so funny. But, oh my wow that's a lot of stitches!
I remember you posting about how you love to knit jackets and this one is just so beautiful. Can't wait to see Ruby's photoshoot.

Clever, clever girl. Your hands must be extremely fit! Can't wait to see it.
Woohoo, looking forward to seeing the fruit of all that hard work.
wow. that is truly amazing. I don't even want to know how many stitches would be in my 6'3" hubby's sweater!!!
i can't wait to see it! your work is so gorgeous.
Wow. All those stitches - all that counting. Ruby looks beautiful and I can't wait to see it in full glory. Thanks for video link. I am thinking about trying Continental on a project to see if it's a bit faster (although I've heard that it can also give a looser gauge).
Holey Moley that's a lot of stitches to knit! I can't wait to see the finished sweater modeled. Everything you make turns out more than fabulous!
Yipe.
go you! i can't wait to see ruby in all her glory!
Ruby is my all time favorite sweater. I had thought it was your other one from vogue's anniversary edition, but clearly this one is the winner.
Goodness me, loads of stitches! I look forward to seeing Ruby!
Wow! That's amazing. Can't wait to see the finished shots!
Oooh, so exciting!!!
Its almost frightening how many stitches go into a garment.
Wow. That really is a lot of stitches. Funny how you don't really know how much goes into it until you really look at the details. Can't wait to see the finished project!
Yowzers!!! You totally did so much better than me in the stitch count. It's beautifu and I can't wait to see the modeled shots!
Whew!! @ stitch count!
Ooh I can wait for Ruby to be on display!
oh my god leslie. i think you need a full massage after that! wow. i am dying....can't wait to see ruby!
Yikes! That is a whole lot of knitting! But then I know how quickly you knit.... Can't wait to see photos of the FO.
I have always wondered how many stitches in a sweater - thanks for figuring that out. I can't wait to see your finished gem. g
eeek, fantastic! and i can't begin to tell you how happy i am to hear that you knit english-style. praise the lord! i was starting to wonder if all the really good knitters were continental and that i was missing something, lol.
Oh, I can't wait!
I love knitting math like this. The number of stitches in a pair of socks, how many rows in a stole, etc. Amazing how many stitches you did in such a short period of time!
Of course, now I want to listen to Seasons of Love.
Um, wow... that's a lot of throwing. I'm a thrower, too, and it's clear to see why there are some aches and pains now and then... because, surely it has nothign to do with the fact that I'm getting older...
Happy knitting-
ali
So how many calories do you think you burned from all that throwing?
That is a LOT of stitches! I have wondered myself how many stitches I have knit in a garment. Maybe sometime i will count. Can't wait to see Ruby. She is looking gorgeous so far!
Wow... That is something! Guess where I was today? At a yarn store, flipping through the Debbie Bliss book, looking at that pattern, the yarn... I am such a follower. And you are such a pusher. The only thing that saved me? They only had 16 balls of the yarn. I chose to view it as an omen.
Ahhh I can't wait to see it. I have the book also and that is a ton of knitting you did.
