When I first started reading craft blogs, it seemed like everyone was doing it. I thought wow, I can craft with the best of them, but this is where I draw the line. I am not putting my shirts into the freezer. I kid you not. That is what I thought. That you paint on the shirt, and then do something with the freezer. The shirt, the paint, the freezer. I really had no idea what they were talking about!
Anyhow, my sister borrowed that shirt and decided she would like to make them.
We bought t-shirts on sale at Old Navy and got busy.
My niece, Kelli, made the ice cream cone. Libby made the snail.
I made the tree.
And using the inspiration from the above peace sign t-shirt, Lisa made two peace shirts. Except the girls told us that my peace sign was wrong. That this was what the peace sign looked like. Huh? Isn't that a mercedes sign? Not what she had in mind. She will be repairing those!
Really. This is such a fun craft for the kids. Or you. And you do not have to put your shirts into the freezer. I promise. :)

I think they are adorable and original. (and I wouldn't have even noticed the difference between the Mercedes sign and the peace sign). Libby is very artistic; her snail is too cute.
Too funny! I had no idea what freezer paper was for a long time.
The shirts are so cute! Every time I see someone doing this, I really want to try it out.
I've been meaning to try this technique for a long time. I really like your tree. It's adorable.
Oh, wow, those are cool. LOVE the snail and the tree! I
shirts in the freezer - that would be interesting!!!
they look so cute! you'll have to find a Mercedes fan to give the boo-boos too.. :)
both the girls and myself love doing these! libby's snail is darling!
I like them all. Great job! Actually, the black with the Mercedes sign is quite hip. I would keep that one that way. I hope you all make more.
too funny, they are adorable though!
I personally think there is something pretty funny about a homemade mercedes t-shirt!
And, love that you thought they went in the freezer!
Too cute! I've seen these before and always have thought it would be too much work. Must think about doing this some time now that I've seen yours.
very cute! I did try this technique once with some onesies for my friend's baby. I ironed too long and burnt some, but all in all they came out nice.
They're so cute! So you mean I can stop freezing my tshirts now? Hooray! ;)
I love the paint marbling effect on the peace sign - very cool.
How fun, that snail is a killer!
using the freezer would make for one chilly tee! great craft idea-love the snail.
:)
I got a huge kick out the Mercedes sign! If you think about it, there's a certain irony in it. Isn't that what old hippies drive now?
ohhhh Leslie I am sooooo jealous!!! I am dying to try freexer stencils but I am having trouble finding suppliers in Australia. Your shirts rock!!! well done.
such a fun craft...with everyone involved...I like that!
That's something I so want to try - eventually.
I must try this with my girls - they'd love it. The snail is my fave - gorgeous!!
I smiled tonight when on my way to work, what did I pass? A Mercedes dealership! (I read your post before I left the house.)
Cute! Cute! Cute! I've got to try these when my niece comes to visit this summer.
Aargh! I really do not need more crafty ideas! I adore the lounge pants and the tees are too cute. Perhaps the tees would be a fun summer project....
every one of those is beyond adorable.
definitely a summer craft to earmark.
thanks again leslie.
They're adorable :)
As I told Kim,you put pipe cleaners in the antenna ;-)
Awww, these are so cool, I am off to read more about how to do this! Thanks Leslie for sharing!
Have fun over your weekend. The peace sign is surely a kick!
There always something new in your blog. I love the snail T.
That is really funny. I put some yarn in the freezer the other day because I was pretty sure I saw a moth fly in the bag. When K opened the freezer last night, he freaked out a little.
Great shirts!
Those tees are perfect! Love the snail and the tree.
Interesting. I am hunting for some sheets to try the lounge pants. Wish me luck, not with the finding, the sewing bit.
I love that you can admit your misunderstandings - shirts in the freezer! :) Those are awesome shirts from the freezer you've made!
I've been interested in this for a while, but have been too lazy to get around to it (despite buying the freezer paper). Maybe when I get the table surface all cleaned, I'll get the drive to do this. They look great!
I also use that method and love it. I have doing t-shirts for birthday with the age/number on them in fun fabric. They seem to be a great hit that when I forgot to make on for my nephew my Sil said hey does he still get one. That's now on the top of my list better late than never.
I am so glad that no shirts where frozen in the making of this blog!
They look great, I love your tree.
They are fun!!!! I will be trying this with my DD over the summer. Thanks for the idea. I've never heard or seen of it before. :)
I love the shirts! And I'm pretty sure your peace sign is the correct one :-)
