some cookies before i go

It was Andrew's pick for our cookie of the week. He asked for black and white and I am pretty sure he meant these after seeing one at the coffee shop.  But, um, no thanks, not this week.
Instead I made these.  So much easier and they all loved them.
Another slice and bake.  Perfect.  I wasn't exactly sure if I was doing the yin and yang correctly, but I think it worked.
My husband will be holding down the fort over here while I travel west.  I am leaving early in the morning to meet my sister and a friend for a little ski trip.  So excited.  I packed a few party favors for them.  Chunky beanies, fetching and Rosebud salve. (Have I ever told you how much I love my Rosebud salve?)  I also have the Habu packed.
Airplane knitting.  My favorite.
I'll see you back here sometime next week.

Have a marvelous trip! Can't wait to see the results from all your productive knitting time : )

Some day I'll share the hideous tale of my yin/yang soup. Peas and corn. Pureed. Ick!

My daughter made black and white cookies last week. They were a disaster. Not sure if it was the recipe or "user error". Your slice and bakes look much more delicious.

Rosebud Salve! I didnt know they still made that. I used to sell that door to door when I was a kid in the 80's. They used to make a lip balm too.. wonder if they still do. Have fun on your weekend. : )

Have a great trip.

Am heading to away to Chicago for a few days with the Cute Guy myself.

Have the back and the left front completed on Libby sweater. Should have lots of knitting time, so hopefully will get most of the knitting finished over the next few days. It's a wonderful pattern. Thanks again for sharing it.

In Maryland a true black & white cookie is the Berger cookie...has Andrew had one of these? It's basically a vanilla cookie/cake thing topped with an equal amount of fudge. Yum. Have a great trip!

I know I've probably missed you already, but safe travels and a remarkable journey to you, to your sisters. I love the yummies you've packed, a special treat of tender love. Soar like an eagle in the cool, fresh air; glide like a swan simmering across the snow; delight in the mememories and moments only siblings can know.

I'll so look forward to your return...pictures, pastimes, presence!

I have never heard of that rosebud salve, but it sounds divine. Perhaps I could get you to procure some for me at some point?

They look so yummy. I just made the other kind a few weeks ago and they are actually quite easy and super good. The longest part is just waiting for one side of frosting to set a little before you add the other. I posted a recipe on my blog but it's gluten free.

I love reading your blog. I am especially excited to hear that they will let you knit on the airplane. I've never tried taking knitting with me because I thought they would confiscate my needles.

So can you take knitting needles on a plane? I guess you must be able to, but I was wondering. I have a long trip to Ethiopia coming up and would love to knit on the plane....but did not know how to find out if I would be allowed to. No scissors, right? So you just don't cut the yarn?
