I spent time on and near the island in my early 20's. It is a magical place. Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos - they brought back good memories for me.
Lovely pics, especially the last one. =)
looks positively divine!
It looks like such a lovely and relaxing time!
Oh wow, you brought back memories. I grew up in WV and going to Chincoteague/Assateague was almost a yearly vacation in my family. It was my favorite place! The last time I went was in college and it had gotten quite touristy and busy but still held that same magic! Thanks for sharing!
great photos, and bet you guys had a wonderful trip !
It looks simply stunning!! Love the photography!
That looks so perfect, oh my!
I love Assateague! I live so close but never seem to find time to go. Your blog post has inspired me to make the trip soon- I love it in the off season.
I've always wanted to visit Assateague. It looks just as beautiful as I've imagined. K x
Whoa. OK, I guess I could go camping there. That looks WAY better than the woods here...
Thinking about camping there in the spring. Never been. Which is the best place to camp? Looks gorgeous!
Looks like a really wonderful weekend. :)
what a beautiful place!
Jealous doesn't even begin to describe how I feel!Beautiful photos.
It looks so lovely and warm.
What a great looking weekend. And I love your header photo.
Lovely setting for a lovely weekend! Oh, how I'd love to knit on the beach with a warm mug of coffee!
Oh, lucky you! I've been wanting to go there ever since I read "Misty of Chincoteague."
Oh, my goodness... Wild ponies?! How cool is that?! What an incredible time- seriously makes me want a real getaway (not one of those fake getaways to St. Paul like we had a couple weeks back! that wasn't so relaxing, grrr...)Oh, and I love charred hot dogs, yep, I'm one that will send a dog back if there isn't some good charring, hehe.Knitting on a beatiful beach looks so much better than knitting in a cold van during soccer practice on a Minnesota October afternoon, lol!!Happy knitting-ali
What a lovely trip you had.
Wow, it looks incredible Leslie. So peaceful x
i adore assateague island. you're making me itchy to get out my tent and hit the road.
I really want to go somewhere where there are wild ponies at the beach.
Oh, gorgeous photos. Looks like a wonderful weekend!
Ah, I relaxed just looking at your photos from my city-based desk. I went camping for the first (!) time this summer (blogged here: http://morewithles.wordpress.com/2009/08/04/i-am-shocked/). We loved it and can't wait to go back!
Beautiful! And there's poor Kelly (Celtic Caston) getting snow already!
Sigh. Those photos are so lovely. Wish I were there instead of here...
gorgeous capture of Assateague! We love to visit Chincoteague...very similiar. They have a great Ranger's program. Looks like you had a wonderful time. Camping on the beach is fabulous.
awesome shots - i love assateague - it's a nice change of pace from the madness of going down the ocean - we go camping there all the time - if only they could turn off the bugs :)
Oh I really need a vacation! I'm so glad you had a lovely time! what a beautiful place.
Sounds like heaven. It's so cold here, I can't imagine spending time at the beach!http://feedingthebigguy.blogspot.com
oh how fun! I wanted to take a long weekend get-away too, but Matt had cross-country practice, play practice AND hockey practice. I was in the car a lot!
What an absolutly beautiful trip! I've always wanted to go there. Of course, knitting all the time makes every trip 'that' much sweeter!
we've been there. a beautiful place. sounds like a nice time. (and i love the header!)
Beautiful! Some of our best memories with our children and friends are from camping on Cumberland Island in Georgia. http://www.nps.gov/cuis/index.htm. You are wise to make the time and get away!
What a beautiful weekend.
Beautiful, just beautiful!
Okay, that is seriously breathtaking. Doesn't look like any campsite I've ever seen. Where is the guy named "Bubba"?
Oh my, my daughter would be SO ENVIOUS! We have read and learned about this island for so long (Misty, etc)... It seems to hark back to so many childhood fantasies. Thanks for sharing!
That's awesome - we were just at Assateague a few weeks back. We love it there, especially after Labor Day! Glad you had a great time, our weather was very terrible, most of the campsites were completely flooded and un-campable. Thankfully we found one and made the best of it! It's gorgeous there!
it looks heavenly! what a wonderful trip. but i am glad you're back.
I loved Misty, of Chincoteague! And all the others, too. What beautiful photographs...looks like a fun family memory!
My childhood dream was to visit these islands. Your photos just brought those memories rushing back. Maybe I will get there one day!
What a splendid location for a little family R&R.

looks like it was wonderful! and even better that it was spent with family and good friends. memories for all!
Oh, I was there once about 17 years ago. So lovely and magical, especially the horses - so glad to see they still call that place home. Thanks for sharing, and reminding me.
Your camping trip photos are beautiful. We always were camping in the summers, but it was often by necessity rather than just for fun. I wonder where there is camping (but not now) in my area.
Looks like you had lots of fun on your getaway! I love your "cookie of the week" section too!I would like to invite you to take part in a blog tour that I'm about to launch for my new book: It's In the Bag. Would you be interested in doing a Q&A interview, or perhaps a book review? I'm open to your ideas too! I hope you'll consider it!
Those photos are GORGEOUS! What a wonderful time you must have had. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, I have never heard of this island. It looks so beautiful. Must add it to my list of places to see. :)
Oh Leslie, that is my sort of island. There is a place like that off the west coast of Ireland where I spent a lot of time when I was younger. Your children will treasure those memories.
LOVE the coffee cup and knitting on the beach picture. I always enjoy your blog. I'm blown away by how quickly you finish projects, but appreciate the ongoing, varied, and well photographed inspiration. Keep up the good work.

I dont know if you happen to didnt suppose that your phrases could hold everyones attention, however you have been wrong. Anyway, in my language, there usually are not a lot good source like this.

I think if I were a student at my school I'd be more excited than I am as a teacher. When my dear friends Candalyn and Daphne called me stating that we would not be having school today I was kind of bummed. I think I'm really weird. I LOVE what I do and I was really put out that we wouldn't be going to work today because of the major wild fire in Herriman. Check out photos at www.ksl.com It is nice to be home and work on some projects that need some serious attention and time :)
Yeah, somebody has been promoted for doing Digital Media Sales, their genuine best and being themselves (is that the right word, or would it be “themself?”... not sure). I am pretty pumped. I seriously have a hard time expressing the excitement that has been blossoming inside of me for the last couple weeks. I wonder if it will be okay if I tell the story. I guess my store manager won't mind. Oh man I am so funny.
Wow...love the Picsfieldsalesjobs
