just because

A new zippered case for Libby's colored pencils because, well, because she asked for one.
A new zippered pouch for me because, well, because I can never remember how to sew a zipper and when I googled it I found this great tutorial. (I broke three needles trying to sew in that zipper.)
A stack of new fabric for a quilt for each of the boys because, well, because I saw the one Larissa made for her son and my Charlie has been asking for new "covers" for years. AND because Larissa puts together some of the best tutorials around.
(All fabric purchased from JoAnn Fabrics.)

A little break from this space because, well, because it's that time of year again. Spring break.

See you soon!

I always shy away from things with zippers because I can't seem to get them right, so I'm looking forward to trying the tutorial. Thank you. Have a blessed day!

Oh I so needed that zipper tutorial. I was laughing at myself the other day that with as much as I love to sew, zippers just freak me out. Thanks for the wonderful link, it is much appreciated

Leslie, are the zippered pouches from Two Bags Full? They are very cute and different.

Cute! I used that same fruit fabric for a quilt for my son (an out-of-this-world fruit lover!). :)

I love the fact that you don't need a reason for the special little things that are not only creative but giving in the very fact that they are simple and so apparently ordinary. We know it's so much more than that!

I'll definitely be checking out the tutorial regarding the zipper. I've only put in one successfully and that was during a class. The second one I tried was nerve wracking. Thanks for sharing!

And I'll look forward to the quilts in progress as well as completed. I love the fabrics and colors you selected.

Wishing you and your family a very happy Spring Break! Know moments of love and laughter.

Peace out!

oh I know!!!! I fiddle forever, then once I get it, it seems easy....then if I don't do one for a while I forget how to do it and have to fiddle all over again!! I'm still collecting cashmere sweaters to make that beautiful quilt you featured last year...I almost have enough! Now I'll have to find some Pendleton wool on ebay for the back :) As always...thanks for your inspiration :) Have a great break!

I've been on vacation, and am so behind in the blog reading! As a result, I find myself with a lot to say.
1. I LOVE your new sweater. And the line "... I just made myself a tutu," made me laugh out loud. It looks gorgeous on you. Good job!

2. You so totally and most clearly have a life. That commenter is a bit of a dingbat, I'm afraid. That's not a very loving thing to say, is it? Well, I feel it needs to be said, regardless.

3. I, too, am a cautious zipper-sewer. I've sewn enough of them to know all that can go wrong. I've never broken three needles sewing one in, though. My mishaps go more like this: sew in zipper. Realize the seams are uneven and the zipper is creating an unflattering bulge in the garment. Re-sew zipper. Repeat realization. Re-sew zipper. Repeat... you get the idea. So glad you got your zipper confidence on. That tutorial is a keeper.

That pleated zipper pouch is too cute. I've tried a couple times with no success on a zippered pouch - maybe that tutorial will be the one that works for me.

I really should make Will a quilt too. Thanks for the links and inspiration.
