gathered cuff cardi

I think I have my new summer "always take with" me sweater. It's light, soft and the perfect weight for those cool mornings, evenings and days.
A pretty straight forward stockinette sweater with just enough interest in the gathered cuff details. Which by the way is the only part of the pattern that I felt required some extra thought. There are increases inside of increases inside of short rows. A little tough at first for my mind to wrap around, but it finally clicked. I love when that happens.
Pattern: Gathered Cuff Cardi
Needles: US 7
Yarn: Classic Elite Premiere 7 hanks 523 favorite blue
Size: small, 35 1/2"
I do feel that this sweater grew a bit after blocking. The pattern calls for blocking pieces and then sewing them together. I always sew my sweaters together and then block them. That is how my mom taught me and that is what I will probably always do. Can't teach an old dog new tricks. (Although we are trying.)
Have a fabulous weekend!

Your work is lovely. You can see the softness in the pictures.

Enjoy.

That sweater has beautiful drape and fine workmanship. Double increases within short rows sounds scary to me but obviously you met the challenge. Enjoy your new favorite.

P E R F E C T!!
Absolutely.
I was just telling LQ that I need a "go everywhere" kind of cardigan! It probably won't be this one...if parts were a challenge to you, I won't make it through!
Enjoy taking it with you each and every day!

it looks lovely, leslie!

Beautifully done! The color and yarn really do allow those clever details to reveal themselves.

I've also always blocked after sewing. Now I am curious about why blocking first would be preferable, if you'd managed to adhere to the gauge throughout the knitting.

What is your next project?

xo

I love it! And that blue is probably my favorite shade. I'm working on my "take everywhere" cardi, too. It's Odelia from cocoknits. I can't wait until I'm done because I just hate walking down the refrigerated aisle at the grocery store in the summer!

Have a great weekend!

This is very pretty, and looks great on you! A simple, versatile knit is something wonderful.

I was taught to block before sewing pieces together - it's funny how we stick to what we've learned, eh? :o)

I've been quite tempted by this pattern, but buying a whole booklet for one pattern is possibly too much. But oh your's is sweet...

I have been wanting a blue sweater for a while now, and that is a great shade of blue. GREAT looking creation!

Don't you think though that it is easier to seam together blocking the pieces before you sew? I've done it both ways, still new to it all, but I did think it was a little easier. Everything laid flatter and didn't curl so much. What would be the advantage of blocking after seaming? Just wondering~Jan

Oh my word! That is gorgeous. At first I thought the sleeves were casually pushed up. The gathering detail is pretty great.

Comfortable but not slouchy. Tailored but not stuffy. A pretty perfect combination.

Can I make a suggestion? I think youve got something good here. But what if you happen to added a couple links to a page that backs up what youre saying? Or perhaps you could possibly give us something to take a look at, something that might join what youre saying to one thing tangible? Just a suggestion. Anyway, in my language, there will not be much good supply like this.

I LOVE the design of this- and the color! I've been trying to learn how to knit because I have many friends who do, for now I just send them pics of what I want them to make for me. But once I get good enough I'd like to try this. I'm always amazed at what people can make by knitting. I saw a knit wedding dress in a window in Los Angeles the other day!
