easy peachy, i mean peasy.

Okay. This may be something a bunch of you already know, however, it is something I just learned that makes life a little easier, so I thought I would share with you. Especially considering when I told jeeves about this (aka, mom) it was new to her. Shocking!
I read about it over on smitten kitchen. The perfect way to peel that fuzzy fur off a peach. Score an "x" on the bottom of the peach with a sharp paring knife. Slowly lower peach into a pot of boiling water. I had five peaches. I lowered each one in and by the time I got to my fifth peach, I then removed the first one I placed in. So, I think that I probably left each one in the water for about five seconds. Then, using the same paring knife, starting at the bottom where you scored it, peel the skin off. It was a dream. A dream, I tell you!
Having this in the morning:
And this in the evening:
Is just peachy.
Actually, having either of those at any time of day is the peachiest!
(I think I am a little giddy this morning. Having only one child in the house for the week can do that to a mom.)

I'll be back tomorrow with the name of a winner.
Have a great one!

Looks yummy! I've heard you can do the same thing with tomatoes to take the skin off.

Oh, lovely! I used to do that to peaches before making jams. I never took such beautiful photos of them, though.

Now I want peaches. Everybody is showing peaches today! Have a fun week! I wish my boys would go somewhere...well not really, only when they fight!

I love the idea of tasty peaches with or without the fuzz, but I'm one of those weirdos that eats the fuzzy skin on kiwi fruit.

I love Smitten Kitchen. It is my first go to site for recipes.

This is how I peel my tomatoes too. It's great for peeling a big batch especially if you are making jam or salsa. Now you have me craving peaches and ours aren't ready for a few more weeks.

This is how you peel tomatoes too, you know. Glad you found the trick.

I LOVE peaches. And peach pie, peach and blueberry pie, pretty much any pie, really, now that I mention it, but peach is a fave.

I'm happy that my peach tree went crazy last year - which means this year I get a break. I don't think I could deal with another full year of millions of peaches!

Thank you for your timely post! My hubby just brought in a bag of peaches from the store last night. I love peaches in all manner of recipes, but my favorite way to eat a ripe, juicy peach is simply to eat it! ;-)

you can use a steamer basket, too. this is how you prepare peaches for canning, and somehow there are always a few less that get canned than what got bought.

There is nothing like peaches on ice cream - THE best!! I'll have to give that method a try - sounds interesting. I've also heard that with tomatoes but never with peaches. I'm game. Thanx.

Farmers market tomorrow ... bring on the peaches!

I have some wonderful memories of canning loads of peaches with my mom when I was a little girl. One of my favorite things to help with was peeling the peaches once she had 'cooked' them and the peels would practically slide off without any effort on my part! It's an old trick that still works every time. =)
I also have to say how much I love the cute knits from the previous post. I think I may have to commission someone to make me an adorable sweater for the baby I am about to deliver. They're just so cute!
Enjoy your peaches and the rest of your summer too.
