santorini

Above shots en-route.

Favorite Memories:
-Turning the car around to go into a pottery shop. Just happened to be the shop of a 3rd generation potter. There just happened to be a woman in there who came to Santorini to train under Andreas Makaris. She just happened to be from the same town where we grew up. My sister just happened to babysit her sister's kids! I kid you not. Small world, eh?!
-The major buzz my sister and I got from our coffee.
-Watching the sunset in Oia.
-When we gave mom a "75 things we love about you" list. (We each came up with 25. You can bet one of mine was her love of fine yarn. We took turns reading five at a time. Tears galore.)
-Watching the sunlight sparkle off the water, the buildings and the faces.
Favorite Meal:
-Every dish at Ouzeql.

Athens tomorrow.

Leslie,
These photos are amazing! Every time I see a picture of your mom she look so elegant and you can see her love for her girls.

I'm one of 4 girls and these photos are making me miss my mom and sisters (we are all scattered). I think I told you my mom and one of my sisters lives in the same town in FL as your mom...

Thanks for sharing!

I just love the pictures and the favorites list. I wish my mom would travel with her 3 girls. She's terrified to fly after 9/11. Makes me sad.

I believe I may be running out of words to thoughtfully do this celebration justice. I can say we never need feel
alone because on the other side of the world there IS a friend. I delight in your photographs. I delight in your memories. May tears of joy yet rain down on you and your beloved sisters and mother.

Oh, how I wish I had sisters!
I'm more jealous of your sisters than of your trip.
(Although that is certainly enviable as well.)

All your photos are beautiful but I particularly love the 7th one from the top, where your mother is affectionately chucking one of you under the chin. That gesture speaks volumes.

Thank you for sharing not only beautiful scenery with us, but also the closeness that you and your mother and sisters are blessed to have. And I love the story about the "coincidence" of meeting the woman from your home town. I agree with what APA says, we need never feel alone.

Your family is just beautiful. Close sisters (plus a mother) hold a special place in my heart and I love your relationship and the fact that you got to go on this trip.

Oh my goodness, what a small world!! And that photo of the potter is fantastic.

For some reason, Nescafe Frappe has about 15x as much caffeine as the regular stuff. I thought it would be great for helping me study when I was in grad school, but it just made me all jumpy! Also, for some reason, you have to be Greek to make it right (mine always tasted like dirt).

What a beautiful time for you, your sisters, and your mom!!!
