1.1.11

Libby asked for a store bought hat (shudder!) and I get that. The whole teen thing... I guarantee she will come back around.
However, she said she would love if I made her flip-top mittens. Okay, then. I'll get right on that.
I modified the flip top mitten pattern from the 60 quick knits book. A simpler version with a 2 x 2 rib instead of the lace pattern and a shorter flip because she thought she would mostly wear them as mitts. She thought she would only need the "flip" if it got too cold at the bus stop.
I knit these in Cascade 220 superwash, #817.
To all my friends who knit, crochet, bake, sew, read, drink wine, sing, dance, drink coffee/tea, take photos, stop by my little space here and to those who bought my place mats...
I wish you a very Happy 2011!!!

Now, let's get knitting!

Hi Leslie

Are you doing another 365? You have inspired me to try one - although I did only take one photo today and it's Day 1 so not off to a great start, but a start none the less. Your blog and 365 inspires me so please keep it up (the blog) and please do another 365.

thanks

Hi Leslie, Aren't teenagers interesting specimens!? I have two at home (boys) and I also get requests for shop bought knitted items...what is that? They will come back around, that is true. I love the flip top mittens, they are cute. All the best for 2011. Kind regards, Anita.

Happy New Year to you!

What a laugh to have a daughter who wants "store bought." Yes, she will come around. And perhaps she's already "heading for home" with the request for the wonderful mitten/mitts.

They are adorable.

I knit and crocheted so many gifts during Oct, Nov and early Dec, and all the results seem to have been good.

Now in this fledgling new year, I can return to my yarn, needles and hooks and experiment without any deadlines. Lots of fun.

It's wonderful to have you as that knitting friend.

Cheers!

It won't even take too long for it to come back around, Leslie! Mine just turned 14, and can't have enough hats. Those slouchy guys that're in now are hard to find in-real-non-knitter-life. So there's that, at least. The new Regia Erika Knight book has a really cute hat pattern out of sock yarn my entire family wants one of.

Happy New Year, Leslie! Hope there are many great knits and pictures to come in 2011!

Love those mittens! I'd rather buy a store-made hat for someone than spend hours knitting something that won't get worn - it kills me when that happens!
