back to school

I think this was the fastest summer of all time. I just can't believe that we are headed into another school year. As my kids grow, time picks up speed. I always heard that would happen. It is so true. It is so hard to believe I will have a sophomore (yikes), an eighth grader and a sixth grader. How does that happen when I don't feel a day older? (No really, I don't.)
School starts for us on Wednesday. Our table will look like this for a couple of weeks. Constant reminders for the new school year.
"be a leader."
Trust yourself. Do the right thing.
"be yourself. everyone else is taken."
There is only one you. Shine on!
"pay attention."
Always be present. Focus on the now.
"if you think you can or can't you are right."
I think this is my personal favorite. The power of the mind and positive thinking.

We recently put together some more sets of the chalkboard place mats. You can get yours here.
Have a beautiful day!

Wow! Your summer really did seem fast! You got out so late, too! Snow days? We still have a couple of weeks, but the days have started to take on that last gaspy feel of trying to cram it all in...

What a great idea! Good words to live by, especially as one starts a new school year.

Just wait until you hit 50. Time is measured in warp speed! :)

The speed of summer has definitely increased. I blinked, and ...where did it go? Our school won't start up for another two weeks, but prepping will.

Oh Leslie, what a perfect idea. As for life getting faster! It is just too much, 12 years went by in a blink, it really does seem to get faster every year, I feel as though I am running along behind them shouting, wait, wait for me.

When did they get so old! Time surely does move fast. We love our placemats and I will be using some of those messages a bit too.

My father was always giving us inspirational quotes.

Our kids school always preached: be fore you speaK think:

is it true
is it kind
it is necessary?

I totally agree with you about how quickly this summer has seemed to speed by.

Hoping that as autumn nears and the air chills that lots more energy will arrive.

Cheers!

I'm going to follow your lead. We're back in school now for the second full week. We were not ready either.

I like that quote as well... except I always heard it as "Can't never could do anything". Same idea though.

This reminded me of the year my husband and I wrote encouraging messages on the sidewalk along the walking route to school on the first day.

We all need to see those statements. Great idea.

The perfect use for the placemats this time of year! They so need daily doses of acceptance, love, and encouragement. And you're oh so good at that!!

"...everyone else is taken" - a gem, thank you. That is going on a sampler some time during the rest of my life
